Escalas is a theatre festival run by the Peruvian Alianza Francesa. It takes three productions from three northern cities and tours them nationally. Escorial toured Trujillo, Chiclayo and Piura.
In a bitter kingdom, a queen wants to forget the grief she feels following the death of the king by simply laughing. She asks her fool to make her laugh, however, her fool is tired and melancholy. They threaten each other violently, they play games, they change roles, and as these things occur, they begin to uncover dark truths that come to a fateful climax…
