The General Will was performed as part of Worcester Fringe 2024.
This is a play about politics, resistance, survival, and clowns annihilating the world.
The recently elected Prime Minister of the Social Club and his Junior engage in self-interested political debate as they revise a manifesto. Meanwhile, two wannabe avant-garde actors discuss politics, relationships and aesthetics as they rehearse their visions for a future in an increasingly dangerous climate. Also, they’re all clowns.
The General Will critiques parliament, progressivism and the role of art in our definitions of what comes next. It interrogates our choices of resistance, survival and self-progress in crises. It is bombastic, anxious, stupid, lyrical and melancholy as it explores a future of our country, our politics, and our generation…
